Whoooo boy I hit the WoW pipe a bit hard last night.
I’m literally too old to stay up so late playing a video game.
That said, I did something totally different: I rolled a forsaken warlock. I generally play Alliance, so this was all-new.
Undercity is the worst laid-out cap city that has ever been committed to polygons. I didn’t even understand there was a lift to go down, as the doors didn’t open within the time I was trying to figure out where to go. And the map! THE MAP! IT DOES NOTHING!

Seriously, I MUCH prefer Undercity to Orgrimar. Which is another reason I rolled an Undead Priest (and Paladin!) to go along with my Human Priest.
But, really, none of the capital cities in Azeroth are laid out worth a damn for actual navigation. They were designed that way to make rendering easier on the GPUs and CPUs available in 2004. 🤷♀️
@lisamelton Ironforge is pretty great, all things considered. Maybe I just played too many dwarves. Sure, walking it is annoying, but it’s a simple layout, and the map is clear.
I also think the layouts were designed not unlike real fortified cities… direct movement would be a strategic mistake during an invasion (which used to happen back in vanilla fairly often!)
Imma roll a forsaken paladin to see the new story, but then Imma hop back over to Alliance.
@octothorpe You do get used to Undercity, learn the directions for each quarter from the bank hub, & 8 auctioneers with mailboxes next to them is great. Best cooking station in any city.
The walk in is a pain in the ass, tho, I almost always go in & out by bat, I'll go to another zone & fly in rather than walk.
