I've been in a relationship with my partner now for nearly 20 years They've recently let me know they really dislike when I use the word "man" at the end of a statement I'm from the Northeast of England, I'm saddened that they hate the way I speak, but I don't know what to do.
@fesshole
<NewZealandish>eh</NewZealandish>
@fesshole *but I dont know what to do, man
@fesshole I dont know, man
@fesshole Now's your chance to try ending sentences with other things like
dude
fella
buddy
bro / bruh / brother
ese
mate
fam
like
innit
ken
eh
oi / ay
@fesshole I don’t know if you’ll ever read this but man if I could talk to your partner right now I’d urge them to reconsider their ways and instead of complaining about your use of the word “man” at the end of your sentences as a Northeast of Englander and instead focus on use of punctuation to prevent exhausting run on sentences, I’m a stickler for good sentence struct, Im saddened you have to go through this, but I don’t know what to do.
@fesshole I'm told Northeasterners at weddings snigger when the groom says 'Why I'.
@fesshole This is really sad. I’m sorry it irritates them, but it’s part of you. Sometimes in a partnership we have to put up with minor irritations. There are a few things my husband does habitually that annoy me, but I let them slide because overall he’s great.
@fesshole Dialect marker nulls are a hard habit to kick, like, you know, my dude? By gum. Lawks.
@fesshole Tell your partner how you feel.
@fesshole and we usually say that people SHOULD communicate with their partner
