Of all the real-world names for chemicals that sound like they were dreamed up by a comic book writer as an ingredient in some superhero’s origin story, “Zoledronic acid” must be near the top of the list.

@gregeganSF Cadaverine is evocative, as well.
@gregeganSF geez. somehow it's worse that one can sorta kinda piece together the name in a systematic manner. there's an imidazole ring! there's a diphosphonic acid, so...dronic acid? why not??
@gregeganSF I don’t remember it with joy. Gave me really bad days, but maybe stronger bones. Did you get a shot?
Not yet. My haematologist needs a letter from my dentist declaring that I’m not at too much risk of osteonecrosis of the jaw before I can be given the injections.
@gregeganSF I went through this period once where I was buying tiny little pocket notebooks from wilko, and when i was bored in the shop (most of the time) I worked at I'd do little doodles and write silly thoughts on them
one of them was a list of "Good biology words" like xylem, thylakoid, neutrophil, ribosome etc
"zoledronic" definitely belongs :D
