My plans for how merephone will present different file formats:
* Text will be a menu of editable paragraphs.
* Audio will use the nav-switch for seek, play/pause, & choosing which parent folder to play all audio from. While playing the buttons will toggle shuffle & auto-repeat, while paused they'd be exit & set-ringtone.
* Images will use the nav-switch to pan or play-slideshow, or when held zoom & navigate photos. Buttons would set wallpaper or exit.
So far... Sounds pretty slick!
1/2?
* eBooks could use the buttons to flip pages pushing exit onto the nav-switch; furthermore the nav switch could resize text & flip chapters.
* Maps could use the pan/zoom gestures constrained to a grid, though I'd have to resort to a submenu to offer all the features you'd probably want.
* HTML could use nav-switch to navigate links, & buttons to flip screenfuls or exit. Forms could be presented as menus.
These start to push the limits of my control scheme!
2/3!
