I'm not mad that Connie lost. I'm mad that our only two options were centrist Democrats. While the rest of the country is making progress, it feels like local politics, particularly the SF Democratic Party, are deeply influenced by corporate interests and billionaires.
@docpop What disturbs me is that SF voted in a senator who can't wait to tear down North Beach homes to build high rises for his developer pals. He and Lurie were both campaigning for this a year ago, and everyone forgot? tech billionaires moved into the neighborhood because it was so cool, and now they want to kill the historic character. make sure it never gets historic status, and eliminate the views people have enjoyed for a century, violating the district's height limits.
The SF Democratic Party doubled down this year on supporting Flock surveillance cameras, voting AGAINST safeguards and police oversight.
Two of those committee members work for Flock https://missionlocal.org/2026/09/san-francisco-democratic-party-flock-cameras/
And the Party Chair accepted $10,000 from Flock https://sfstandard.com/2026/09/28/sf-dem-party-chair-who-blocked-key-flock-vote-got-10-000-donation-billionaire/
Coincidentally, SF Democrats opposed the one-time tax on billionaires (prop 40), breaking with the rest of the Democratic party statewide https://fortune.com/2026/09/02/san-francisco-democrats-bilionaire-tax-prop-40/
@docpop SF is a oligarch town
The SF Dems are one of the richest local parties in the nation and the majority of their donations came from just THREE big donors

@toddbuddy yeah, same. Things are better in the world though and I feel a great relief seeing public transit funding and our Sunset Dunes Park surviving yet another campaign. Things in the world feel better and I certainly am happy about voter turnout across the nation last night. I just needed to get all that stuff off my chest.
The SF Dems are one of the richest local parties in the nation and the majority of those donations came from just THREE fucking donors

@docpop it is disheartening.
@docpop Connie isn't exactly a centrist. She campaigned for Medicare for all. And I think she's the only person on the Board of Supervisors who tried to limit developers' lust to cover the city with high rises. She's a huge supporter of historic preservation. But I agree-- what used to be a city where positive change was fought for passionately has become something else.
