Apparently someone has moved a lot of cows to the local ranch here, complete with cowboys 🤔 #cows #cowboys #ConejoValley
@firefly Ha! Was there a girl looking for her lost sheep around later? 🤪
@ai6yr I think I’ll ride my bike up there and check em out! Yeeehawww! Hopefully they are not on the trails and hopefully they are somewhat restricted. I’m not sure we need deercow babies popping up out there!
@jberry they are on the Broome Ranch property
@ai6yr @jberry Supposed to eventually be in Rancho Potrero as well. They have warned about trail closures. Might be an issue since we do a lot of riding in that area. But, if we get a lot of rain this season then it is not a big deal since that entire area becomes a swamp that we avoid anyway. I'm kind of hoping they create new trails for us.
"A prescribed grazing project is getting underway at Rancho Potrero open space. Cattle will graze the site to remove built-up grass thatch, helping reduce invasive annual grasses and giving native perennial grasses room to recover. In addition to placing project info signage at the site, we’ll also be posting some temporary trail closures. Thanks for helping us keep our open space healthy and resilient!
COSCA received a CAL FIRE Wildfire Prevention grant in the amount of $100,160 from the Mountains Recreation and Conservation Authority (MRCA) as part of a CAL FIRE Regional Pilot Grant to the Southern California Wildfire Resilience Partnership, facilitated by the Regional Forest and Fire Capacity Program."
@ai6yr @cmgrowell @jberry Interesting. Yes, the non-native Harding grass desperately needs to be controlled. Eradicated would be better, but that's a pipe dream.
Cattle though? Everywhere they walk is destroyed. I have concerns.
@ai6yr Some mystery sheep were on the lam(b) in our neighborhood this morning. 🤔#sheep
