Very happy with the results but let’s not forget also that in several states things are even worse now for trans people
@spiegelmama @skinnylatte The numbers are very bad but it isn't over. Unlike... almost everywhere... early voters here skew _right_. Election night numbers like this on initiatives _have_ in the past reversed as more votes come in and get counted.
This is a hard ask in this case tho'. People always vote around 4% meaner than they poll. _At best_, it's going to be a nailbiter.
(This is one of those measures that King County is going to block if it's going to get blocked. King County was, as always in these things, a NO on this initiative. I don't know if it'll be enough, though. It'll depend upon final turnout.)
@moira May the numbers turn around enough to end that monstrosity. Gender-checking girls is basically filling Dr. Pedo's spank bank. This measure could end up destroying women's sports.
@skinnylatte
Hey, maybe it can be struck down by Title IX. I'm sure the ACLU is already on it.
@spiegelmama @skinnylatte I presume that was sarcasm? I honestly don't know.
Either way, even if this ends up losting, the christofash have been given their map.
@moira No, not sarcasm. Women and girls do not have equal access to sports if participating requires an invasive exam. If I had a daughter, I certainly would strongly recommend against sports under those conditions. 🤷🏻♀️
@spiegelmama @skinnylatte The exam part might go down under Title IX, but the Republican Supreme Court have already told trans kids to fuck off, that Title IX doesn't apply. So there is room for partial relief - but only partial.
@skinnylatte Like, wtf, Washington. Gross.
