So.
New conversations won't connect to old prosody.
So I bring up new server where to move my XMPP so I can have new prosody, and later migrate the rest. And thank goddess (@valhalla) for provisioning scripts, because there's a lot of moving parts involved.
But prosody doesn't only want certificates for chat.$DOMAIN, it also wants them for $DOMAIN.
So now to have new prosody in new host, I have to migrate all old host to new host to satisfy this
I'm fond of XMPP for historical reasons, and a lot has been done do make it easier to self-host.
This may be hard to hear by anyone with historical memory of how it was, and I am grateful for all that has been done, but: a lot still has to be done.
@spanezz @valhalla You do not need to migrate just to get a cert. You can use DNS validation instead.
