My mood after checking the election news
The aside about MS NOW's name being stupid is as follows:
It was originally called MSNBC because it was a joint partnership between Microsoft Network (MSN) and NBC. Microsoft fully divested in 2005, but they still kept the name. Eventually NBC spun off MSNBC along with a few other subsidiary networks as "Versant." So neither MS nor NBC are involved anymore, so okay, changing the name makes sense...
so why the fuck would they keep the MS part?
@fluffy I feel like this was during the trend of naming everything NOW or MAX and they just picked one
@keisisqrl yeah I worked at HBO when they launched HBO NOW and then left shortly before it rebranded to HBO MAX, and like, uh, sure.
anyway I decided to look at Fox News and oh my god the conservative tears are super satisfying to see
In Washington State news, it looks like all three initiatives are currently losing, which is a relief. There was a brief period when it looked like the overtly transphobic one was ahead but at least at the moment all three are losing. https://results.votewa.gov/results/public/king-county-wa/elections/20261103
oh wait no I was confused by the King County results page, they're failing in the county but it looks like statewide the transphobic sports thing is passing and I haven't looked at the other two yet
My favorite headline ever on MS NOW (which is the stupidest fucking name for a news network given its history but whatever)
