I remember when Ubuntu first started, what an enthuiastic and successful project to take "what works" and turn it into "what works well".
And how long it has kept its reputation! An excellent and well-maintained upstream repo, reliable in the server space as well as on the desktop.

How quickly a reputation can be damaged. Not yet lost, but badly damaged. https://ubuntu.com/security/CVE-2026-98432 is "work in progress" but their theoretical upstream Debian fixed it over 20 days ago. And still no ETA.
