I did a little research on my latest #linuxaudio #plugin discovery. 😅

According to a BPB article, RFA's plugins are not vibe-coded. #ai was used for stress testing and performance optimization, though.

"Relic" isn't anything out of the ordinary in and of itself, but the 15 #free #clap and #vst3 plugins felt smooth to me during a 10-minute test on my PC, and according to other users, they sound decent as well. 🤔

haha, just last weak I was tooting there was no Teletronix LA-2A compressor clone for Linux and now you're showing me one. 🤪

Please continue falsifying me.

@amadeus there is a whole universe of ways to work with ai ranging between "vibe-coded" and "hand-coded".

i personally find the label "vibe-coded" to be very lazy and offensive. the world is far more nuanced than that. 😐

What we will see is a lot of tools that will be created by AI-based decompiling, stealing essential functions, and then re-compiling.

Funnily, these tools then can be AI-decompiled again to prove this.

Back when I was working as a researcher, just copying stuff from other people without even dropping their name was something like a capital crime.

Today making money from other people's work using AI is the default behaviour.

Not even closed-source software is safe from that any more. Basically, closed-source technically stopped to exist with Reverse Engineer Anything.

Which eventually will result in everything useful moving into clouds so that you don't have binaries to decompile on your machine any more.

@fortifieduniverse I guess it is offensive, and I'm sorry if it came across as rude. 🫣

I hope I made it clear that I personally don't judge anyone for how they choose to make something.

Do you think I shouldn't be making such distinction at all, then?

@amadeus i'm in the same boat as you with regard to human creativity, and remaining positive, etc.

i think we're just making big mis-steps around here with trying to slap "ai" or "slop" labels on everything because _outrage_.

@amadeus but that's exactly what's happening... judgement. we're judging plug-in developers based on, in some cases, how we _think_ they're building their software.

i think in not so many years, this situation is going to flip, and we'll be looking at hand-coded software as a relic of a bygone era. i've been building software for 40+ years, almost all of it the slow way. and the benefits of these new approaches significantly outweigh the negatives. we're moving into a new era of software.
