Washed the selvedge denim jeans I sewed (I know, I know, heresy for the collectors... but I don't exactly have a blue jeans freezer available, lol), before sewing another pair. Cold water, line drying. Definitely some vertical/length shrink still (and bled more indigo). Also some shrink in width, so it is good I built the original loose. Still loose fit. Had to iron the selvedge edge as it had curled (did it while still a little damp). Drying the rest of the way now again on the line. #sewing

@EugestShirley Ha, I was going to ask about whether to dry in the shade or sun.
@ai6yr
Sun gets them dried faster, but fades fabric dyes.
Sun whitens whites, but shortens the life of the fabric.
The breezes soften the fabric in a pleasant way. Air is the best fabric freshener ever.
@artcollisions Thanks! I'm glad they held up after the wash, lol... true test of your sewing.
@ai6yr I always hold my breath until after the thing is washed!
@artcollisions That's why I didn't sew another pair of jeans yet, lol. Needed to wash these and see where I was on the additional shrinkage!!! Since I am most certainly going to have to wash my jeans (none of this silly fashion no-wash stuff), need them to hold up...
@ai6yr good thinking all around!

It is best to hang them to dry in shade. UV index is only 4.8 today in El Segundo, so should be okay.
Refold the hems to avoid the faded fold mark as they shrink.
