FFS I just learned that teachers in my kids school have been instructed to use Gemini AI for writing school reports. I wonder what the new ‘must try harder’ will be?! ‘Try Gemini’ perhaps, or maybe ‘brought to you by Google’?! WTAF I guess we can fire all the teachers now because AI can do most of their job and we just need some zombies to stand at the front of the classroom and point at Chromebooks, right?

@psychicparrot42 Genuinely dystopian for teachers to become glorified middlemen for slopped "average sentence" conveying to children.
And those who pay enough to avoid it will still get individual human tuition in exactly how to exploit the rest (who are limited to being taught slop and to rely on the limits of slop in life).
@shivoa This is exactly what the rich want isn’t it? Private schools being the only way to get education. It annoys me is that the teachers unions should be screaming about this.. but, so far? Nothing. Teachers are out there literally presenting a case for themselves to be fired by the school board and replaced with AI and a few unskilled bodies. And they’re just merrily going along with it thinking it makes their day easier! Boggles my nog.
In my kids school, the teachers don’t do lesson plans AI does, they don’t write reports they prompt AI to do it, AI summarizes rather than reading, a big chunk of the curriculum is AI generated, students use AI for generating essays and teachers use AI to write emails and answer questions. Classes are overcrowded, schools falling apart, but we can give millions to a US corp for this shitty half arsed AI education. Fuck the school board, fuck the education minister for Ontario and fuck Google.
