@davidgerard so many fash at chess. I have a pet theory for this.
There’s an adaptation that helps with the type of pattern recognition chess requires but absolutely destroys the ability to understand other people have agency and emotions.
It’s kinda like the thing that makes dyslexic people struggle with patterns on flat surfaces but apparently better at spatial perception.
