So I would assume that this graph works that way because they're not allowed to count the actual votes ahead of time, but the names of the people who voted, and how they registered is a public record.
@apLundell the point is when we register, WE DON'T DO THAT.
We _do not list a party affiliation_ when registering. And we have _open_ primaries.
And yet, they're saying "registered Democrats" and "registered Republicans" in Washington State. Which _are not things_. We _do not do that_.
@moira Wonder who’s got a database keeping that info from our presidential primaries, instead of removing it after 60 days. The parties themselves, or something else?
@apLundell (How do our primaries work? They're open and the top two go to the final. Yeah, that means D v. D and R v. R November elections some places, but that means the most fascist Rs who might win in the primary can still lose in the general, which otherwise wouldn't happen.) (e.g., Spokane Valley, which is _scary as fuck_ with white nationalists. It's our own little sliver of Idaho.)

I dug a little more after posting, they're modelling it but listing it as real. Very bullshit.

Here in MA, when you register to vote, you also register a party affiliation.
