20+ dogs were reported in the area of 5th St and Harbor Blvd in Oxnard, California. Oxnard Animal Safety Unit received reports of a large group of dogs around an encampment and in the West Montalvo Oil Field. Both VCAS and Dog Days Search and Rescue responded to OPD’s request for help securing the dogs and bringing them safely to shelter. 20+ dogs, including 8 puppies, are now in VCAS care, with Dog Days Search & Rescue attempting to trap two dogs remaining in the field. Both Ventura County Animal Services locations are currently operating at around 130% capacity. We are hopeful that our community will rally around these dogs to get them adopted or out with rescues quickly. They are scared and will need patience, time, and love. Each dog will be spayed/neutered, vaccinated, flea treated, and microchipped prior to adoption. Please keep an eye on the shelter’s website for their individual information and available dates following spay/neuter. ID numbers are A856012, A889781-A889800.
