Chuckling at a tiny home show- (by all means have the amenities you need- my observation is just humour at the things that are important to different people)- but this home owner specifically mentioned the ice-maker and dishwasher as being crucial/most appreciated things in her kitchen. Two things I don't have and have never used (did have a dishwasher at a couple of rented places in Toronto, didn't use them; don't think I've ever had or wanted an ice maker..)
@Momo0 I bet ice comes in handy when its really hot. I'm not a cold drink or cold food person in general. We do have days that feel pretty toasty here- with high humidity- but usually only a few hours in mid day. My tap water (well) is actually so cold it will hurt your hand after a few seconds! So no need for ice, I don't even use ice cube trays.
Once those kids are dishwashing age-- put 'em to work ..lol 😉
@Momo0 I'm sure when I leave this place I won't have that luxury anymore but now on warm days I just take a water bottle with that icey tap water when I'm working outside and on those days I make concentrated coffee then chill it by setting the cup in a bowl of that tap water- a couple of changes and topped up with water and its cold..lol
@cohanf@mastodon.online Ice maker? Is it a different thing than the freezer in the fridge?
(Same here about the dishwasher!)
@Langile i think it is to make ice cubes for drinks, something I don't do- but to be fair I don't live in a hot climate (though at work we sell tons of icey and slushy drinks all year...lol)
@cohanf@mastodon.online Relol, like people having a cold iced drink with -10°C??
And do they have hot chocolate with 30°C?
@Langile Some customers still buy the ice drinks at -20/-30C- I sometimes joke that their cars have much better heating than mine! (but it must be true). and some hot chocolate (and french vanilla drink-- from same machine as hot chocolate) in hot weather- but lots of hot coffee and hot tea for sure. It's funny when people in the same car are opposite- one ice one hot.
@Langile One sign for me that it is one of our hottest days is when some (never all) of the people who come for hot coffee every day (or 5 times a day) order one of the ice coffee drinks...lol
@cohanf I live in California and ice is such a bonus on 100+ degree days. I'm also team dishwasher! 🤣 Really saves time when working full time while raising kids.
