There's some "every accusation a confession" stuff going on, I'm just realizing, with conservative parents getting so mad about the perceived threat that gosh-durned librul schoolteachers and other "bad influences" are going to make their kids fake and gay.
If you believe it's your right (even responsibility) as a parent to tightly mold your child according to your own politics by limiting that child's access to information, then one of the greatest threats another adult can be is *doing that with different politics than you.* The other big threat is child molestation, which of course is the other threat they see in queer and/or progressive adult role models.
And just like misogyny does for how possessive men think about women, it's about treating children as inanimate possessions that do not have agency unto themselves - human tofu that will take whatever flavor is imposed onto them. They still don't think their kid will be free, as the threat model - just different indoctrination.
I guess the thing that feels novel here is, "you only think blue-haired people can do this because you think YOU can do this."
And I don't just mean *can* in a moral sense*, I mean mechanically, physiologically, how do you think a child brain works, kind of stuff. You only think it's possible to brainwash a child into, I dunno, having a sex change, because you think it's possible to make them cishet through media control, beatings, and sheer force of will. That's why these parents always make a surprised Pikachu face later when their children don't turn out how they were raised.
*though this question of moral justification is a more familiar sump of sewage that I feel gets more exploration in other places, and I don't need to dive it right now.
