@davidgerard And the first project is an OIDC server, something like Authelia, Authentic, Keycloak, Zitadel and many others?
@davidgerard It's kinda cute how they want to do it "clean room": That approach exists because of copyright and your will to make sure you do not break it. But if you use an LLM you literally have no leg to stand in with regards to any code. Why still use that terminology?
It's cosplay again, isn't it?
@tante literally has CLEAN_ROOM.md
@davidgerard Oh, then it must be true. Markdown files never lie.
@davidgerard it's this fucker: https://thomasjmeadows.com/

I'm sure it won't get worse if I keep looking, right?
@froztbyte HiveDispatch is an existing app for beekeepers, *this* one though is for running herds of coding agents in a Gas Town
@davidgerard oh I thought it was a reference to the bodily reaction the software dispatches to you
@davidgerard Florida Man, according to what's visible in Github
@davidgerard Great, because what the 99% needs is another copy (slopped of course) of bloated software from the biggest corporations
@davidgerard I see no overlap whatsoever in the Venn diagram of "clean room/open source/drop-in replacement".
@haverholm that's the special AI coding meaning of "clean room", which is "absolutely encrusted in shit which you stole"
@davidgerard @haverholm The clean room is where they polish the turds
@davidgerard @haverholm like stealing bits of clean rooms, and gluing them together…
@davidgerard @haverholm Average vibe coded "liberation" project:
I like how one of their first projects is a copy of Auth0 that you host and run yourself.
Famously, having someone else run and secure your authentication layer for you is nothing at all to do with why you'd use Auth0.
There's no way in hell any qualified dev thinks this is a good idea.
@algernon @davidgerard no see, look look... he has a CLEAN_ROOM.md file! Legit clean room. 👌🤡
@davidgerard David, it’s Monday morning, I haven’t even had breakfast yet, and you have to start my week by showing me the dumbest idea in software in a decade?
YouTube
@davidgerard@circumstances.run sloppupysaas
also wtf is with these projects calling themselves "clean room", like that means anything when these models were trained with everything in existence
@davidgerard@circumstances.run i don't think they know what "clean room" means
"armed with AI and public documentation, are building clean-room, open-source, drop-in replacements"
[citation needed]
@pikesley AI Overview, give me full citations, make no mistakes
@davidgerard they need to put a poll option under "Who is next" and let the public decide who is next.
