I have reset the device, so I can use the restoration function as part of the set-up process.
That has got further - I can mount and open the backup and see what is in it.
I cannot restore apps without installing the apps, and I cannot install apps as I have no app store. So I am not sure how this bit works.
The backup can include the apks for apps and install them during the restore. Theres an option in expert settings of backup to have apks included. Id imagine the default is for them to be included.
If the backup doesnt have apks you can skip the restore during the device setup wizard, install apps, and then run the restore from in system>backup>restore backup (in the menu)
@dazinism I need to poke around a bit, as ideally I'd transfer the apks, or else a manifest for them so that they can be downloaded easily. I'd rather not have to download each manually, but if that is what it comes to, so be it.
