I definitely did not have anywhere near the same experience as her. I barely talked to any other trans people while getting surgery, I stayed in a rented apartment in Brooklyn afterwards.
I know other people who have had bottom surgery in the US and a few that have gone to Thailand, but I'm not sure if I know anyone who has had surgery in Europe.
I am seeing how useful English is, it sounds like many of the staff for managing the bottom surgery paperwork in Thailand speak English. That's probably why I haven't heard about issues with language from my friends who went to Thailand.
