when sighted and sighted disabled people criticize AI companies, rightly, the right way instead of falling into stupid hype themselves, this is usually the response from blind people.
Blind people. those luddites don't understand the technology at all. Besides, they aren't disabled, so shouldn’t be listened to. AI can describe pictures for me so I don't have to be a human being and talk to other people and actually be social with people so the AI CEO is fantastic, regardless if he fucks over his workers.
I am blind. I do not care about intersectionality, only blindness issues.
Why are they attacking the companies because it's like they're attacking me personally. They're a bunch of religious zellets that just fear technology. I wonder if people avoided cars when cars were invented because they were so afraid of cars that they'd avoid progress? Non-disabled people are trying to put the genie back in the bottle and it won’t work!
and as for audiobook narrators crying they will lose their jobs? I hate audiobooks. If you don't know Braille, you’re not the representative blind person, let alone a good blind person.
If you critique Tech Bros because they happen to have made something I find useful, you’re an ableist bastard. Corporations are giving us accessibility! Why are people trying to take that away?
Sighted people are mad because we can finally be libertarians and make our own accessible software without community, but we sometimes think the ADA is good, I guess.
Also, fuck autism! Stop rocking!
We have centuries of internalized ableism to work through that other disability groups do not seem to have, but instead of community orgonizing, we will hitch our waggons to corporations until a better corporation comes around.
Sighted people are dumb about tech and technology because they don't understand how AI works.
The ones that do speak out about AI in our community, we can just ignore them, because we will be over here, cheering on corporations while the religious cult continues to warn us problems we refuse to listen to.
Also, yay driverless cars! If you hate driverless cars, you are an anti-blind bastard.
@WeirdWriter I've invented a new type of driverless car. It obviates the need for expensive computer vision sensors and unreliable algorithms by guiding the car using a set of rails, dramatically reducing the risk of collisions. This also allows it to travel at much higher speeds on straightaways. Furthermore, by chaining them together, we can considerably increase the number of passengers and thereby the efficiency of transport. In fact we can even dedicate some of the cars to human comforts, like fresh food, and peace and quiet.
