tired of waiting for parts to arrive let’s get a more interesting bike on the rack
@NNN This thing had been outside under a deck for literally decades. Fortunately it's the kind of deck that doesn't have gaps so isn't even that rusty!
It is rusty, tho'. Just... not what it _could_ be xD
@NNN None of which means you're wrong - hopefully it checks out. It's _surprisingly_ light for having a steel frame.
this thing has a lot of matching and non-generic parts, how do I even do (lol)
this does date the bike reasonably specifically to 1993
oh noes, it did
but amazingly they are _not_ all that corroded - and have a date! 07/2000. So…. installed 1997?
one of the battery contacts is literally broken in two, I patched around that and it still doesn't light up with new batteries. so this goes up to the bench to work on in the evenings. I'll salvage it if I can, of course.
This is basically Every 1990s Hybrid Bicycle, Steel Frame Edition. It's _very_ light for steel, which is great.
And this is a complete A20 set on this bike. From what I can see in archive Scott catalogues, that puts it on _exactly_ 1993. So it's 33 years old, last used not that much later in the 1990s (given those batteries most likely went in the rear light new in 1997) so I'd guess one rider.
Keeping in mind that before the little bit broke off and got lost that first letter was clearly an F, maybe this is their name?
@moira
Nice long rear triangle.
Canti brakes =
put drop bars on it and it's a Randonee
