The healthcare marketplace would like me, a self-employed person with no recorded disabilities who has never served in the military, to prove that I DON’T have insurance through an employer, the VA, or Medicare.
Apparently I am meant to do this with things like a letter from my employer saying they don’t over me coverage?? “Dear me, I regret to inform us...”

@molly0xfff This year my employer, who buys self-insurance plans for us, started telling us we had to sign something declaring that none of our listed dependents had other insurance coverage. If any of our lister dependents have other coverage we have to pay a $100 surcharge. It doesn’t affect me since my husband does not have insurance anyway but it’s obnoxious.
@molly0xfff Search your plan carefully. Just discovered mine is no longer participating in any of my current medical facilities. Time to find a new one. It’s not easy to find the information either.
Don't worry, your employer is a fine person, just ask them for a letter.

@molly0xfff many years ago I had to prove the provenance of my degree to the powers that be.
“My college stopped issuing degrees and no longer exists.”
“Okay can you give us their phone number so we can verify this?”

- we need name, address and phone number of your boss from the company where you worked 15 years ago.
- the company does not exist any more and my former boss has not worked there for a long time.

@molly0xfff I'm less clear on the diagnosis, much less the cure; but it seems like society has a problem when you run into situations where "have you tried being a corporate person?" is a locally-plausible question.
