update: closed up shop at 9pm with 53 kiddos!
we’ve had a surprisingly good year for kids - 50 so far. we usually get 25-40.
we’ve never had them clean us out before. here’s happy henry helping us make treat bags earlier today.
if you're wondering why we're giving out diet dr pepper: handing out candy to parents proved so popular last year, that we bought specific candy for them this year.
@vga256 dang none of the houses on my street were giving out four-slice toasters this year
@vga256 I could've used a Helper Cat!
We live on the "main street" of my neighbourhood and my next door neighbours like to decorate so it's a high traffic area on this evening. I lost exact count in the end but we may have broken 200 visitors this year, which if we did would only be the second of 28 Halloweens I've had in this home to be that busy.
It is interesting to see how it ebbs and flows over the years as kids age out and new generations emerge. Some of the "originals" now bring their kids around and it makes a person feel ancient 😂
@msh that is insane!
@vga256 henry says "i demands all the treats"
@vga256 How did you decide whose costume was good enough to get the cat?
