All ready for the onslaught. #halloween
Our rough estimate is that this year’s #trickortreat was about 1,500 kids in two hours. This is an increase from last year’s ~1,200, but given the weekend night, pleasant weather, and some recent news exposure, it was somewhat expected. #halloween
@Meyerweb as someone who lives in a rather rural area, where any nearby kids go elsewhere to trick or treat, this is incredible to me. Even when we lived in a subdivision, we'd see maybe 200 kids in a night.
@Meyerweb Halloween got news exposure?
@negative12dollarbill Our street did, yeah.
@Meyerweb what were the best costumes you saw?
@Ashedryden A little one wearing a princess dress glowing with dozens of fairy lights all through it. And my granddaughter’s sparkly witch hat and dress, of course.
@Meyerweb holy smokes, how many thousands of kids come to your door??
@cczona Last year’s estimate was 1,200. We expect closer to 1,500 this year due to great weather, it being Saturday, and the street getting some recent news coverage as a top Halloween destination.
@Meyerweb wow, you and Ashe live in worlds that I have never fathomed. That's amazing. How did your neighborhood earn its elite status?
@cczona A lot of houses on our street (three blocks long) go nuts decorating for Halloween. Our front yard, for example, is a middling effort at best. So the reputation has grown over the years, and it’s become a tradition for many. We’ve given candy to the toddlers of parents who were themselves kids at our door, years ago.
As expected.
