In case you missed it, there is a *REALLY* easy way to see all the posts in a discussion thread:
1. Go to the discussion thread
2. Wait 5 - 10 seconds
3. If there are missing posts, "More replies found" will appear, click on it
4. After you click, it will automatically load all of the thread's posts no matter which server they were posted from
This means everyone on Mastodon can see identical discussion threads without having to look at other servers.
@FediTips How does that translate to API use (i.e. 3rd party apps)?
@FediTips I love the fediverse, but it's hilarious to me that a "REALL easy" 4-step process including "wait 5-10 seconds" is required to do something that is 100% seamless on every other platform
The Fediverse is allowing totally independent servers to share threads, AFAIK no other platform even allows that?
(But yes, this isn't as easy as centralised platforms 🫤 )

Fetching all replies has been in Mastodon since version 4.5.0, which was released in November 2025.

i think we only fetch one level i should look into doing it recursive
@FediTips it doesn’t work properly, though. I can clock it and then it appears again. But it’s better than before, i suppose. I think.
