right on the dot of 5pm the little kids have shown up begging sweets
we way overbought sweets this year, i think we'll be living on haribo for a coupla months
meanwhile our kid has a "trick or treat" shirt they wear all year round *except* Oct 31

@pdcawley we did check with the neighbours if it's a thing here and they reassured us it was
@davidgerard Just under an hour in and we’ve gone through all of our six giant tubs of sweets. Children are now pounding on the door.
@bjn we're going through slowly because many of the parents are restricting their kids to ONE SWEET
and you can see why cos the kids are toting carrier bags that are already half full of sweets
@davidgerard We were restricting them to one sweet each, but there must have been hundreds of kids out on the streets of W4.
I get day time trick or treating... but my heart says that it should be at NIGHT.

I am told that trick-or-treating has gotten as far as Germany and is continuing to spread eastward.
@michael_w_busch @futurebird small children appropriate other small children's culture in the quest for sweets. i expect pinatas to show up more

@davidgerard I always buy full size (not god awful multipack miniatures) bars, which is kinda spendy but, ten years after her cardiac arrest and resuscitation, Gill’s still here so I’m calling it well worth the money.
