My favourite brand of tea leaves suggests steeping for 5-7 minutes. I pour boiling water over the tea leaves in a narrow mouth conical flask, which I place on a lab hotplate with a magnetic stirrer. It stirs for 45 minutes before I decant into a tea cup. Chemists know tea.
@fesshole I thought that said 45 seconds at first. Why would you choose to wait an extra 40 minutes for a cuppa?
@fesshole
This motherfucker doesn't understand the difference between kinetic and thermodynamic extraction, and thinks he's a chemist? I'm calling IUPAC's enforcement division.
@fesshole
I am absolutely certain this specific piece lab equipment contains no harmful residue at all, and am comfortable preparing food in it.
- No sane chemist, ever.
@fesshole the timeline has the correct answer
@fesshole A 45-minute stir in a conical flask is not tea, it is a lab experiment that lost its funding. Our newsroom tried the same method and the anchor is still waiting for his morning cup, which is now legally classified as a science project.
@fesshole less of a fess, more of a strange humble brag?
