I am getting quite irritated with how Slack isn’t just content to be a pervasive corporate chat platform but now it’s trying to be the center of my life. Fuck off with that.
I don’t need or want constant messages from Slackbot, I loathe the thing it forces into the menu bar on macOS (note: you can command-drag it away, and macos has a permission you can set to prevent it being added back in), and for fuck’s sake all I even use Slack for anymore is song fight admin chat, which isn’t my day job.

@fluffy ah, thanks! must be the "Allow in the Menu Bar" setting described in https://support.apple.com/guide/mac-help/change-menu-bar-settings-mchlad96d366/mac which unfortunately isn't in macOS 15 Sequoia.
Not sure it's worth upgrading just for that… but with presumptuous BS like this Slack might be getting uninstalled as a native app soon :-/

@natevw unfortunately "presumptuous BS" is the state of all software these days and I hate that I'm stuck with macOS for my music software because I'd really like to be able to just switch back to Linux as my daily driver at this point
like, Linux is full of AI code at this point but at least the UI still gives you a choice of it being user-centric instead of capitulating to "AI is the future, you must submit to the machine"
@fluffy ooooh what is this permission? I've tried dragging it a way a dozen times now just in case it … happens to work *this* time, but it snaps back in place the instant I let go
