@futurebird He's right, in a way: Dem socialists winning would likely mean the end of the US American empire. Instead we'd have just a country where the government works for the people and holds people accountable for their actions. Nightmare fuel for Thiel.
@futurebird ahh. Guy not from America gets to decide what America is. Got it.
Thiel is an asshole CRAPITALIST. He wants to loot as much capital as possible and deliver nothing but crap.
Peter Thiel continuing to have wealth and social power, apparently.
@futurebird mr. Thiel sees “rich people can do whatever the fuck they want” as foundational and essential to America.
@futurebird
Capitalism, exploitation, eco- and genocide?
@futurebird perhaps a more relevant question might be "What does this statement, like, say about Mr. Thiel?"
@futurebird that would be amazing but even democratic socialists couldn’t buy back all the guns so I doubt it
With sane regulations on guns in a generation that issue could be vastly reduced. Guns break, wear out, they don't last forever.
@futurebird if by generation you mean ~80 years then, yes, that seems doable. A new (sane) government would have to deal with a life appointed Supreme Court which would slow down any real gun control, though.
With that said, I too am optimistic about America long term and as a dual citizen (US tax payer for life, lol) I must say https://www.usvotersabroad.org is an exceptionally well executed service 💯 The American people are organized and mobilized and *energized* to fight injustice.
We could term limit the court, or expand it. I think both are great ideas.
@futurebird I have seen Barack Obama, the 44th president of America making companies for some people whom he wish to be leaders of the States!
Is Obama a socialist? And what do you say about this?
AND on the other hand, would American vote him if he could campaign for presidency again?
Obama is a liberal not socialist even a little. He won't run again.
@futurebird okay, and if incase he would come back for presidency, would you support him?
It's just assuming
OK I need to amend my response. It's technically not legal for Obama or any person to serve a third term. Rules like that matter to me and it's a big reason why I don't think he'll run.
He could make a great case that Republicans have broken so many rules, what is one more? But... that's not a stance that we need right now IMO.
We need powerful men to be forced to follow the few damn rules they have been given IMO.
I think we focus on who will be president too much.
I'll support whoever gets in the way of, stops, or ideally takes to court these corrupt men who are looting the government.
But, really I'm trying to find someone who could be a better representative for the little congressional district where I live. That might be more important.
So to answer the question? Yes. But I don't think he'll run, and he wouldn't be my top pick. Not that anyone listens to me.
@futurebird What these people fear is what real freedom looks like. The kind of freedom that liberates everyone, not just the wealthy and powerful. That kind of freedom is maybe the end of their America, but it would be the beginning of everyone else's.
@futurebird unlimited capitalist exploitation and abuse
@futurebird Oh please, let America end very soon, in this sense! The world would be grateful!
I won't do my own homework, but I will say what I think would constitute "The End of America"
If it is ever clear that the people* cannot through organizing, the courts and existing political institutions reshape their government, change the rules to make the world more like what they think would be right? Then it is over.
*Let's call "the people" every adult person who lives here permanently of all genders, faiths (or lack thereof), races, ethnicities and political allegiances.
Thus, any changes that alter *who* can exercise power are key.
"Full Communism" would be a kind of end. If everyone must be a member of one party that is a dead end. But, it would be hopelessly naive to assume this is what frightens Mr. Thiel. This fake horror story about the dead end of an all-powerful state is a cover story for what really scares him: literally the opposite issue.
Not too few having influence or power. He fears there will be too many. Me, you, us, that guy over there too.
I will forever be embarrassed and disgusted that our government gave this man Citizenship. He didn't earn it, he's never lived here to qualify for it, and the country wasn't informed of his political leanings beforehand.
If I have my way, he'll be ousted along with Kash Patel's FBI office that was covertly installed in our Capital City.
@futurebird He's a libertarian, so presumably he considers "Freedom" very important. He's on the record saying that BBC Freedom is incompatible with democracy. So, as anyone paying even a bit of attention has noticed, he considers democracy to be an obstacle to be removed. Of course, he was the first billionaire to endorse Trump when he was only newsworthy because the Very Serious People considered him a joke.
@futurebird if only... and it would be high time
@futurebird Peter Thiel, who wasn't sure in an interview if he would like humanity to survive.
@futurebird I have a golden rule, anything Thiel does not like, there is a chance that it is a good thing.
