I don't think there is supposed to be a bare wire in the ceiling junction box, right?
@th are you Dutch? I'm asking as I see the wire colors which will hunt me for many more years XD
In my case previous owners mixed brown and blue which made my hand shaky for a brief moment XDDD
@th If it wouldn't result in having an oddly fitting light fixture in the middle of the room, I usually get out the drywall saw and replace it with a full size junction box.. my OCD won't allow me to shove that many connections back in the box without being able to eyeball all of the connections before closing it up. Good luck!
@th Bloody hell, I'd call a sparky at that point. Good job. Where are you (country) - it looks like UK wiring?
@th One of the blue wires isn't straight and another one doesn't seem to be inserted all the way.
For getting everything into the box, you'll probably have to use the smaller connectors, like the Wago 2273-208 which are much, much smaller but only take solid wires. Each 2273-208 is smaller than one of those 221-415s that you're using now, and takes 8 wires instead of 5. You could use the smaller 221-402 or the even smaller 224 for connecting the flexible wires to solid jumpers.
@whreq the five wire ones were the biggest at the local hardware store. Hornbach has the 2273-208, so I might have to make the long bike ride to pick them up. Thanks for the suggestion!
@th At least it's neutral.
@th I think that's your hint to do a proper full check of all your wiring...
@th Black as in phase? Probably safe... definitly not gona chock you what happenes next(!).
@th while at it, it never hurts to check if the wires are really what their colors indicate.
@th You have junction boxes in your ceilings? My ceiling wiring just disappears into amorph caves.
@th at first glance it looks like the bare wire is blue, but that it is the same one going into a black wago with other black wires. Color change btw. blue and black is not good, or am I or the picture missing sth?
@th it's the surprise fun implement
@th it's extra in case you need to stretch the wire a little farther.
@th It’s a single-ended antenna! [1]
[1] A λ/lots antenna for a 50 Hz signal, obvs. Probably only effective in the near field regime.
There were six outlets worth of wiring in that junction box. I'm not sure I can fit the Wago connectors back in and might have to make a decorative cover instead.
