@jalefkowit Some NBC Executive, in some pitch room, probably: “okay, you know that ancient poem, ‘The Waste-land,’ or whatnot, by something-something Eliot something or other? Okay, hear me out, what if we made a show about cops, but they’re talking all old timey like that old poetry stuff? Like, they’re in a shoot out, pinned behind their cars, and they go, ‘Ay! Morty! April is the cruelest month, know what I mean?’ And Morty’s like ‘Yeahhh, Unreal City, under the brown fog of a winter dawn, amirite?’ It’s like Cop Rock, but like with all the poetry and stuff!
And just wait till you hear about my plan to turn the Divine Comedy into a mockumentary sitcom!”
I have been to F. Scott Fitzgerald's grave, and now I must go again, to apologize
@jalefkowit We were touring Westminster Abbey back in 2005, and I looked down, and I was literally standing on Charles Darwin's grave.
I don't know what this says about me or him.
@APBBlue Fitzgerald's grave is in Rockville. I stumbled across it completely by accident while waiting for a Ford dealer to finish writing up the paperwork for me to buy my first car
If you're curious: Scott, Zelda and their daughter Frances are buried together in a tiny Maryland churchyard that has been completely swallowed by suburban Washington, D.C. It's about a five-minute walk from the Rockville Metro station, and from there you can walk to IHOP
So we beat on, boats against the current, borne back ceaselessly into the NEW Stuffed French Toast BreakFEAST®
@jalefkowit Dr. Eckleberg’s Waffles
@jalefkowit I like that you assume they actually "read" the book.
@jalefkowit I still haven't gotten over turning *Lucifer* into a cop show. And it even had enough of a fan base to get it picked up by Netflix when Fox killed it.
