It's been a long time since I've had this board game out! "The Rise and Decline of the Third Reich" by Avalon Hill, from all the way back in 1974. I can't remember when I got a copy of it, sometime in my twenties? We played a few sessions with friends, but never actually completed even a single full game. Partially probably due to competition from all the other games we played, including the even larger scope "World War II: European Theater of Operations" and its Pacific Theater sibling.
My somewhat autistic 10 year old son has developed a bit of a fixation on the second world war, after discovering some strategy games on Roblox, and then moving onto "Hearts of Iron IV". So it was only a matter of time for this board game to come out of the shelf. Everything is in a pretty good condition, except for the rulebook being a bit worn. But really happy I didn't try to sell the game like I've considered doing many a time.
I think it will take us this weekend just to learn the movement, combat and production rules ๐ Then maybe in the next session we might even try to read the strategic warfare side of things.
@isaackuo@diaspora.glasswings.com Hope to try Axis & Allied with my son in the near future. A bit more simple but still a proper wargame.
