A thing I have never understood is claims that men have trouble "finding the clitoris". What do you mean you have trouble finding it? It's right there! The g-spot is the one that's hard to find! "Oh but sometimes the clitoris is hiding" WELL GO LOOKING FOR IT
@mcc most men don't even know about Skene's gland. Or Betcher's gland, for that matter.
@mcc Our society slowly became one where clit owners expect it of their partners and more men care about their partner enjoying sex. Yay feminism!
@mcc Saw this post recently which is maybe a bit closer to the money https://mastodon.social/@anon_opin/117479237726093728
@kitten_tech this would explain it EXCEPT they keep making new cis men? like logically there should have been a next generation after that that had to find the clitoris for themselves
@mcc I'm gayer than Christmas and *I* could find it.
the implication seems to be that straight cisgender men are not, like, LOOKING at the vagina? that would be really weird to me? don't you LIKE vagina? isn't that usually an integral element of "being straight"?
@mcc And even if you didn’t for reasons, fingers are extremely sensitive and good at finding things?
@mcc thinking about that episode of the sopranos which is about how its gay to eat pussy (as a man)
@mcc I have long been under the impression that an awful lot of ostensibly straight men do no, in fact, like women.
You are underestimating the fraction of people who are "weird about sex" and like don't want the lights on because people might see them naked.
the more unnerving thing that didn't occur to me until i started writing this thread: between 1990-2010 i remember encountering, periodically, "jokes" about men not being able to "find the clitoris". then this stopped. it stopped being a part of our shared cultural discussion. is the implication that men STOPPED trying to find the clitoris? was this a part of the Trump revolution?
@mcc I think the implication is that it stopped being possible for men to be ignorant in good faith. Last century, it was normal for men to not even be aware that female sexual pleasure exists. Today, it's more natural to assume that a man who ignores his partner's pleasure is a man who just doesn't care. The jokes came from a specific inflection point between those two conditions.
@mcc I've assumed it's a joke about men not listening or caring about their partners' pleasure.
And I think there was a shift around the 2010s, where I feel like younger straight people seem to have just given up addressing gender issues. There are exceptions of course, but I'm surprised how *resigned* they seem.
@mcc
We invented much better vibrators and stopped relying on men to find it for us.
Or there's someone out there making indie porn with freeze frames and scribbles on the screen explaining what's happening, like they do for football games.
@mcc I guess at the time I would've thought our culture had progressed to the point where men were on the whole getting better sex education, having healthier ideas about sex, etc. such that such jokes no longer reflected reality or resonated with an audience, but thinking on it now that feels horribly naive.

@mcc the ghb keys are right there on any thinkpad
@mcc look, it's really hard, you see, it doesn't have balls
@mcc finding the tip is easy but finding the rest of it took centuries because scientists never thought to look at the internal structure.
i assume anyone who can't find the external part just isn't looking. like. it's right there. especially easy to see once it's swollen. (and if it's not, well, uh, skill issue?)
