“So on top of all of these other problems, we have this situation where hyperscalers are buying way more GPUs than they need, driving up the price of memory and thus the price of consumer electronics for everyone. On top of that, they're lying about how much capacity they have. They are trying to make everyone believe they're bringing gigawatts online when a data center can do many things.
The data centers that people hate are not the ones that do streaming. These AI data centers are completely different beasts to anything that runs anything else. These things could all disappear tomorrow and the internet would function mostly the same way, because they only exist to do AI.”

“And when you tell people, well, they go, well, look, their revenues are going up… Fun fact, Meta increased the cost of ads. Google increased the cost of ad. Microsoft increased the cost of everything. Amazon increased the cost of, I mean, things on Amazon Web Services.
They turned the fees up on their sellers. They increased revenue through other things. But because people are saying, wow, these are the smartest guys ever.
They wouldn't spend hundreds of billions of dollars on nothing. So that growth must be coming from AI. And the growth they are seeing from AI, by the way, is from Anthropic and OpenAI spending money on compute.
And you'll never guess who funds OpenAI and Anthropic. That's right, Microsoft, Google and Amazon. And also Nvidia and Broadcom and Micron.”
