Favorites are now Likes. Bookmarks are now Saves. It seems that Bluesky won the terminology war with Mastodon.
@montyhayter heh - tempting! Like I need anymore complexity in the app, though. lol
@bigzaphod Honestly I do wish there were more nuanced options than just a fave/like. Maybe a few canned ones plus your choice of any emoji, like iMessage.
For example, someone says “I’m sick” or “my cat died”. Liking that seems wrong, but it can also feel somewhat hollow and performative for everyone to write “I’m so sorry, thinking of you” every time someone posts something sad.
@dmnelson yeah I've long thought they should just be emoji. And I know that's a thing on some services like Slack or Discord.. so. I dunno. (It would make things hard for tapestry, though...)
@bigzaphod
I don’t necessarily disagree with the terms, but I resent Mastodon taking cues from Bluesky. 🤬
@bigzaphod I will never accept the terms of the Neville Chamberlain of ActivityPub, Gargamel.
Toots, Pings, Florps. These are our words.
@bigzaphod it is semantics i know, but not sure why this stuff always had to be a zero sum game
personally prefer favorite and bookmark but what does my heathen ass know
@filmfreak75 yeah I dunno... things always seem to kind of.... smear toward an average.
@bigzaphod i know and i appreciate your efforts being stuck in the middle of it
@bigzaphod Timeline scrolls sideways.
@bigzaphod Screw it, come up with your own new terms for Tapestry. Preferably as weird or as esoteric as possible. 😀
Or maybe make it configurable, with “traditional”, “modern”, and “weird” options. And custom terminology packs. People could share sets based on their favourite media franchises… also custom iconography… (Trek? 😀)
