We knew asking you to give Linux a try was a big ask, but did you take the step? How’d it go? If you made the leap, tell your friends with this badge! https://www.eff.org/pages/i-want-opt-out-major-operating-systems
@eff i been wanting to try Linux, what are some beginner tips you think are helpful?
@eff been a year since I switched to PureOS
Works great
@eff Try Linux? I've been running on it since the end of Win 7. Didn't like the changes in Win 8, plus I seen the writing on the wall back then with the "telemetry". I've been on Linux Mint ever since. Must be 8-9 years I've been on Linux. And I haven't looked back.
And every time I seen news about Win 11 updates crashing, or forced CoPilot, all the recent tone deaf disasters from M$, I can't help feeling I dodged several bullets.
@eff I m using GNU/Linux since 2001 , when i installed Winlinux2000 on Windoz98. I loved it until today.
It's the best OS. 👍
NB: I m not in Informatics.
@eff I saw a video of updating the OS by typing "sudo apt update," and realized we can still have nice things.
@eff back when I had a PC, I installed Bazzite and I liked it quite a bit.
@eff my grandfather got me a Rasp Pi 3B running a kid friendly OS as my first computer when I was 10. I bricked it and asked my dad to install "linux" (which was all I knew abt what it ran). He gave me Ubuntu Mate. I was intrigued and ended up installing Mint with him on what used to be the Win7 family computer, and I stuck with it. To this day I've never daily driven anything else, and I'm very grateful to my grandfather for buying that Pi for me. And also to Audacity for bricking it :P
