@TechConnectify not convinced by the segue (sounds like many AA appliances will never need a recharge if carbon zinc does the job).

But also: can't come up with a better one

And also: want to see the next!!! I can Haz NiMH video? Pleeeeeeeze

@TechConnectify

A french youuber did several test videos on batteries. It would be interesting to compare results and methodology. He did not talked about Carbon-Zinc.

@TechConnectify Can confirm, Carbon Zinc batteries are still widely available here in Canada as well.

Some are better than others, but the Panasonic ones are my go to for remotes and clocks and other random low drain stuff.

The carbon zinc below and the same Panasonic Alkaline above.

@TechConnectify
Carbon zinc might be hard to find, but we get manganese dry cells everywhere. Panasonic lists Neos as being the best choice for remotes etc. I've got a bunch, will replace DMM batteries post haste...

@TechConnectify Great video as always. I did learn things about leak mitigations on Carbon Zinc batteries, something I never thought about before.

While I was watching, I couldn’t help but think I would love to see a follow up video on nickel-metal hydride batteries, so I was pretty happy to learn that was your plan ^^.

@TechConnectify was excellent. Forgot to like, I'll go back and do that.
I thought last year you finally found lights that you were happy with so we wouldn't have a new one this year.

@TechConnectify I just put one of those Panasonic carbon-zinc batteries in a clock today.

@TechConnectify I remember having plenty of these Eveready red batteries around when I was a kid. I never see these anymore.

@TechConnectify Ah Panasonic batteries. The chances to see these guys in the Ni-MH video are practically 100%

@TechConnectify

Can you provide a link to the battery load tester that you used?

@TechConnectify you could ask TechTest for help with the rechargable battery video. German youtuber (talks german in videos) who has tested countless nickel metal hydrite batteries and is now mostly focusing on lithium ion

@TechConnectify 👍

Unfortunately I can't confirm the "alkaline batteries are all about the same, regardless of the brand" claim. Some non-brand batteries (not from a Dollar-Tree-like shop) can have a much lower capacity than one would expect (the non-brand batteries in my post lasted one month where brand batteries lasted over a year in a digital clock).

Maybe I should give CarbonZink a try.

@TechConnectify
I heard batteries needed to charge your car & of course Virgil Simms' invention sprang to mind immediately

@TechConnectify almost impossible to find heavy duty batteries in the stores around here. I did have a good stroke of luck finding them at Harbor Freight for a while. They weren’t great, but they were inexpensive. Last time I was there I didn’t see any though. They were black and yellow. Now they seem to only carry alkaline.

@TechConnectify "Alkaline batteries name is far too basic" got a laugh out of me

@TechConnectify lol basic 😂

@TechConnectify my son dusted off our Wii last weekend and I learned that non rechargeable AA are 1.5V while the rechargeables we have are 1.2V so the wiimotes would work with them.

@TechConnectify Sigh. 30 minutes about Alkaline batteries. And yet, I know I'm going to watch it anyway.

@TechConnectify 🍿

@TechConnectify SUPER HEAVY DUTY (ironic)

@TechConnectify hot take: if your battery is hot, take it away

@TechConnectify I am SHOCKED
