If I left every service just because some asshole joined it or took it over, I'd have no services to use.
@Mrfunkedude I try to pay attention, spend ethically, and so on. But I worry I'm going to crack soon.
A) For many things, I'm out of options, and ๐ it's starting to harm my mental health, between trying to keep all the information in my head, and then being crushed under the next bit of bad news. I just don't have enough bandwidth.
@ZenHeathen Nobody does. It's impossible unless you can self host every single service out there. There are a lot of great alternatives, but eventually we might find out that even THOSE are run by some asshole.
It's maddening trying to keep up and moving services every time.
"But I don't want to put money in the pocket of someone who's an asshole!"
Oh really? Are you vetting every member of that company or are you just talking about it's leadership? Because if it's the first choice, sweet summer child, have I got some bad news for you.
We're all putting money in the hands of assholes every day. It's called "Capitalism".
@Mrfunkedude It does make you feel left out a bit, but it's a whole lot more peaceful too.
@Mrfunkedude I have a 1 day filter. It's called VOTD. Villain of the Day.
Keeps it a bit more peaceful as most tech "arrgghhh, NAZIS!" dramas seem to quieten down after 24 hrs.
