Here is this week's #Linux and #OpenSource news video, on a Friday, cause apparently my parents are now in town, and apparently they still like me enough to spend the weekend together.

So, in this one, we have worrying reports about Proton's move towards using A.I. a lot more, we have Ubuntu going all in on Core Desktop, the all snaps version of Ubuntu, and we have a vibe coded Linux compatible kernel, among other things.

@thelinuxEXP
Props to you for adressing the Proton situation. What's going on there sounds crazy with the CEO straight up bullying and threatening people who don't fall in line. With a company culture like this (plus the full embracy of AI for everything, apparently) I wouldn't trust them with anything. I'm curious what their response to you will be, I hope you'll publish it once you receive it.

Thank you again for speaking up!

@thelinuxEXP Yeah, and the word you used for that Proton news is exactly right: atrocious. I am not one of their customers, but I might have been under other circumstances. This news is gross and absurd, and ensures I'll never give them a dime…unless something drastic changes in their company policy for the better.
