# Reddit is moving to “a logged-in-only experience,” CEO says
Soddit.
So much for the open web.
Although, given ID requirements for social media in some countries, I guess that we will see a lot more of this (although that is not a stated cause here).

@neil too "bad" that I recently quit Reddit, I hated the overall mood of the place (there are many subs that are gems but the site kept pushing politics and doomerism on my face) and how often it represented the worse of nerd culture.
I still open it if during a research I stumble in some Reddit page that may contain useful information but I refrain from posting to it or spend time there just for entertainment.
@neil Didntreadit, or more like Couldntreadit.
@neil for about two years now i've personally found the web experience of reddit completely unworkable, at least, on my phone. so this does not surprise me. but, yes.
@neil And they're just about to drop RSS feeds, which will make keeping an eye on multiple subs quickly without using their dreadful mobile app more tiresome.
Reddit is also retooling more of the moderator helper functions, which is not going down well.
@neil I assume also an anti AI thing too. Given how much the AI tools are using Reddit sourced data. It must be a considerable burden on resources that.
@neil It's fascinating having watched the web grow from not existing, to providing everything to self destruction in so few years.
@neil There already huge pushback on reddit over this and the CEO is already trying to play it down and say they are only testing it for now
