Those of us who are already #Linux users have been saying this for years if not decades.
#Canada could develop it's own version of GNU/Linux for use by the federal, provincial/territorial and municipal public sector and break #Microsoft's stranglehold once and for all.
Many governments around the world are already doing this.
@mcr314 A number of governments in Europe are working on a variant of NixOS which I understand is good for large identical deployments as one might have in the public sector.
@bonaventuresoft Shifting off of M$ would actually be a useful thing to do instead of the AI corporate welfare.

@sebastian The lie is that M$ has servers physically located in Canada, but under US law, M$ is required to transfer info to the US any time they want it.
Breaking with Windows is step one in totally breaking with Microsoft's cloud infrastructure.
@leftylabourtech and, because many governments have similar needs/requirements, collaboration makes it cheaper for everyone. Alas, IBM consulting is all over GC.ca, and they own RedHat, so...
