My dad called out of the blue after some years lol
Acting like he was interested and bragging about my brothers but he actually wanted to tell me they found someone else to do their website and I told him I an very happy about that since they costs me money
While I was at it I told him some harsh truths about our relationship and how they treated me, he doesn't even know where we live
Currently i'm zipping up their site, gonna send it over and close contact
Family can be so very shitty, wow

Sometimes it's the family of choice (the logical family) that ends up meaning more to us than the family of birth.
Maupin was referring to what so many LGBTQ+ people go through, but it can impact anyone. Big hugs to you.

I was always different then anyone in my family and that was okay but the total amount of shit on top was it..
People on the Fedi are my real family since we connect and share common things, i don't with anyone in my family (mom is a sweetheart though)

@stux My father and I had a complex relationship (I was raised by grandparents and aunt.) I started doing all his paperwork, taxes, accounting, etc in 2012 after we "rebuilt" our relationship. By 2016, that had failed due to his behavior. He got mad and threatened to come get all his files. I told him to come get them and I was done. I took all the files, put them in a large storage crate and just mixed them up. No way they could easily pull any info from them without lots of time sorting. Years later, after he died in 2022, that plastic crate of files was still mixed up like balls in a lottery machine. lol.
