@ai6yr @smellsofbikes at least one of them owned a beacon, and it wasn’t located in the car, tent, or their dorm room, but SAR hadn’t been able to locate a signal. Whatever happened, with survival at this point incredibly unlikely, I hope whatever happened took both of them quickly.
@douglasvb @cjmoose Looks like they have infrared and a drone... that is not good news they haven't found them yet. Ice chute, or hypothermia due to conditions/snow.
@ai6yr @cjmoose they probably are meat popsicles now 😬
The mountaineering club got shutdown at my university due to three members dying on Mount Rainier in similar conditions.

@douglasvb @ai6yr oh wow! That’s tragic! Nothing about Liberty Cap/Liberty Ridge as a climbing destination looks appealing to me. I get why it’s appealing to other people, but there are a lot of places I am more than content to observe from afar. That’s definitely one of them.
@cjmoose @douglasvb That's a lot of snow and ice to deal with....
@cjmoose @douglasvb Their tent was found next to that lake down there in the middle (image rotated, 3D). The peak there right above. There already look to me to be two possible avy runouts visible in the 3D there...
@cjmoose @ai6yr A coworker got first ski of the year in on Mount Cameron this weekend, and saw an avalanche that swept someone else up (but they rescued him.)
