Just realized there's a character in The Animatrix named "cis"
@mcc ... (everyone knows what I'm about to say, but I feel a need to say it anyway) there's a character in the first movie named Switch, and I'm sad that the purported original plan for them to be different genders inside v outside the Matrix didn't make it into the film.
(And yes, I know that Switch has an entirely different and unrelated meaning. I'm not referring to that.)
@kboyd i knew you were about to say that
@mcc and somehow its not the guy who wants to go back into the matrix
@mcc That implies something hilarious but plausible about the majority of characters in the Matrix.
@MaddieM4 I think that's actually canon as of movie 4
@mcc I really gotta budget time to watch the series through. I know people talk shit about 2 and 3, but I've only seen the first one, so that's 75% new material I could make up my own mind about!
@MaddieM4 2 is *fantastic*, on level with the first. If people complain about it it's because it challenged them in a way they didn't like.
3 has problems. They had schedule issues and two actresses died. It's got some single excellent scenes but also some moments that land leadenly. It overall has problems hanging together. It's worth watching, but only the most diehard really defend it.
4 is excellent. It's not clear how necessary it is (and the film grapples with that) but it's good.
@mcc I had this realization this week too
