The class I'm in is lovely but their after-class "community" is on....Facebook. As someone with ADHD and happily involved in a lot of hobbies, I find myself in this scenario at least 3-4x/year:
Someone: When this event is over we should all stay connected!
Everyone: YAY LET'S
Class facilitator: We have a Facebook group, here's the address...
Everyone: YAY COOL
Me: I deleted my Facebook account a couple years ago, are there any alternatives? I could suggest some if you need ideas?
Everyone: <very awkward silence>
Facilitator: <changes topic>
Anyone else run into this scenario? Have you had any success getting people to switch?
@hollie@social.coop I've had this happen a few times and while it's not changed anyone's minds, I ask them this. "Do you know how people go vegan and don't eat meat? Well, I work in tech and I know how this sausage(meta/google/et al) is made and I don't want to eat it."
It hasn't changed most people's minds, but it does get them to leave me alone and not ask again.
