It’s not as remembered as it should be that besides being a horror icon, Vincent Price was an accomplished gourmet cook who co-wrote several cookbooks with his wife Mary. In this clip, he shows you how to make trout in your dishwasher.
@middleclasstool I was just wondering how a dishwasher from the 2020s would compare to the one in the video from 1980 in the fish cooking department 😆
He was also an eclectic collector of art, whose collection today forms the core of a museum in Los Angeles.
2015: "Price and his second wife, Mary, were such food connoisseurs that in 1965, they wrote a best-selling cookbook, A Treasury of Great Recipes. It's been out of print until now. Victoria helped get the book reissued for its 50th anniversary, with a preface by chef Wolfgang Puck.
"Victoria Price remembers her father spending hours perfecting creme brulee, and hosting lavish dinner parties at his Beverly Hills mansion. She writes of her mother, a costume designer, creating the perfect atmospheres for the parties: She once copper-glazed an entire set of dishes for one meal."
@jalefkowit Oooh! Thanks for sharing. I might have to get that...
@jalefkowit I made dishwasher fish once, half my life ago, and it works strangely well. You have to plan ahead, because a full dishwasher cycle takes a long time, but it comes out perfectly poached
