I've been looking forward to #40c3 all year long but I'm starting to have second thoughts. All of the clubs I know well here in Berlin are full of genAI scabs. It's literally smothering any real activism or creativity as it relates to computing. Why would I bother going to end up surrounded by people who say "I din't think about things I can't change" as an honest quip about the state of computing. I find it all disgusting and I don't want to waste money just to hear the same thing but larger.

Seriously, where do people who care about the future of computing and its impact go now? Are there any events or spaces for this? I'm asking earnestly because this year I've watched almost every community I am involved in stop caring about this mission. My doubts about #40c3 are that it will be this but assembled. Are there going to be others there that care about any of this? Has CCC become irrelevant?
