Um yes, OBVIOUSLY. When your entire career has been defined by three 'once-in-a-lifetime' financial crsises and you couldn't afford a home until maybe never and half the people you know are out of work and the other half never had retirement funds cos they were all contractors and...?
I basically figure there won't be retirement by the time I get there. The boomers I say this to kind of pat me patronizingly and say, 'don't worry, you'll get there,' as if it is just that I can't imagine I will ever get old, and then when I start to explain how and why I will actually honestly never get there but I hope they enjoy retirement because it still seems to be a working system for them, they sort of back away slowly and assume I'm depressed instead of a realist.
Generation X is freaking out about its impending retirement

@cyberlyra the article buries the lede, which is that NOBODY thinks they'll be able to retire:
"Among all generations, Gen X is the least confident of retiring "with a comfortable lifestyle," the report found. Just 18% feel very confident, compared with 23% of millennials and 28% of boomers."
I'm Gen X and I have a modest 401(k) that I expect to be destroyed when the AI bubble pops
